Your New life starts here
If you're ready to get help, our program can transform your life.
At Stable Recovery, you will learn new skills, find fellowship, and start to rebuild your life. The journey begins with an internship in the Taylor Made School of Horsemanship. Over the first 90 days, you will learn how to work hands-on with thoroughbred horses and begin developing the habits that lead to lasting change.
It's not just about getting sober, it's about staying sober. That’s why our program is built on our four pillars of recovery: Accountability, Structure, Discipline, and Responsibility.

Addiction can strip you of everything, including your purpose, dignity, and future. But at Stable Recovery, we believe in second chances and the power of meaningful work. We’re not just another recovery program; we’re a place where men and women rebuild their lives with their own two hands, working in the thoroughbred industry and rediscovering their self-worth.
From day one, every person who walks through our doors steps into our Taylor Made School of Horsemanship to learn a trade and begin working with some of the most emotionally intuitive animals on earth — horses. These animals don’t judge. They don’t dwell on the past. They sense struggle, respond to emotion, and teach invaluable lessons in trust, patience, and resilience.
Built by industry leaders who have walked the path of recovery themselves, Stable Recovery is a program that doesn’t just get men and women sober; it gives them purpose. Over 100 graduates have earned careers in the horse industry, more than 1,800 family members have been reunited, and countless lives once broken by addiction have been restored. At Stable Recovery, you won’t just find recovery, you’ll encounter the power of the horse, purposeful work, and the hope of a new future. Take the first step today.

The impact
"Before coming to Stable Recovery, my life was broken by addiction, loss, and regret. I lost custody of my daughters, my home, and my purpose. After multiple overdoses and failed attempts at rehab, I hit rock bottom in a courtroom during a custody hearing. That moment pushed me to seek real change. Stable Recovery gave me the structure, support, and fellowship I needed. The first time I wasn’t ready. When I returned, fully committed, everything changed. I completed the 12 steps, got my job and family back, and found a deep trust in God. Today, I work night watch at Winstar, have a car, and most importantly, have regained the trust of my children. Anne Hayes and the community at Stable showed me a new way to live. I’m finally proud of who I am."
- Justin Muse
"I spent 40 years in construction, battling a growing addiction to alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine. It started casually in my teens and escalated over time, costing me jobs and pulling me away from my faith. My wife and kids stood by me, urging me to get help—but I didn’t think recovery was possible. While in rehab, I came across Stable Recovery in a magazine and told my wife I’d give it a try. I’m glad I did. Returning to horses—something I grew up around in Lexington—has been powerful. The connection and calm they bring have become central to my healing. Today, I work in the broodmare division at Winstar and live on the farm with other Stable Recovery residents. I’m still close with my wife, my kids, and now my granddaughter. For the first time in a long time, I’m grounded, grateful, and hopeful."
- Tim Moberly
"I grew up in a cycle of abuse, addiction, and instability. By 17, I was using pain pills and synthetic drugs, and by my early 20s, I was deep into meth, crack, and heroin—sometimes with my own father. My addiction led to jail time, multiple overdoses, and broken relationships with my family, especially my sister and grandparents. After years of failed rehab attempts, I found Stable Recovery—and everything changed. I started working at Winstar, first in the training barn, then in the broodmare division. The work grounded me, and for the first time, I found purpose. Today, I’m proud to be part of the Stable Recovery team as assistant program director. I’ve gone from running from probation to running a house that helps others heal. Stable Recovery didn’t just help me get clean—it gave me a second chance at life. "
- Tristan Jeffery
"I grew up in Philly with a good family and a passion for sports and horses, but I struggled with anxiety and feeling like I didn’t belong. By my teens, I was drinking and using drugs to escape. Over time, that led to addiction, strained relationships, and the loss of access to my kids. Even after years of trying to stay sober on maintenance meds, I relapsed hard and spiraled into guilt, isolation, and daily drug use. After ignoring multiple chances to get help, I nearly lost everything—including my life. Stable Recovery gave me the foundation to rebuild. I returned after a relapse, committed this time, and leaned into the work and fellowship. Through it all, I’ve grieved, grown, and found purpose. After graduating the School of Horsemanship I worked for Godolphin for a year. In February 2025, I accepted the position as the assistant for Brad Cox at Turfway. I am blessed beyond belief, and none of this would have been possible without God and the help of Stable Recovery."
- Blane Servis
"I didn’t grow up around addiction. I had a good childhood, never thought I’d end up with a drug problem but at 30, I tried meth for the first time, and it took over my life. I landed in prison three times, lost everything, including my kids, and felt completely defeated. That’s when I made the decision to change. After Recovery Works, I came to Stable Recovery, and for the first time, I found the structure and discipline I had been missing. I started working at Taylor Made, but health issues forced me to step away from horse work. Thankfully, Stable Recovery offered me a role, and I’ve been here ever since. Today, I’m sober, employed, and, most importantly, I’ve reconnected with 5 of my children and 2 grandchildren. Stable Recovery helped me rebuild my life, one step at a time."
- Roger Sullivan
"Growing up in a small Kentucky town, I never felt like I fit in. I started drinking and using drugs at a young age. What was recreational for others quickly became a daily escape for me. I had a stepdad who raised me, but struggled with abandonment, always looking for validation because my biological father left me early in life, and I bounced between treatment centers trying to find my way. After a relapse in Lexington, I spiraled into fentanyl and methamphetamine use, ending up in psychosis and jail. I had no one left; my mom had passed, and I was completely alone. That’s when I found Stable Recovery. After detox, I started the School of Horsemanship and later began working at WinStar. I was a groom in the broodmare division for over a year before taking over the position as the School of Horsemanship Coordinator. Stable Recovery didn’t just help me get clean, it gave me structure, purpose, and a new beginning."
- Jaron K
"I was born into addiction, my parents were hooked on crack, and by 14, I was using heroin. I was homeless, in and out of shelters, and sent to prison at 16 for trafficking drugs. After getting out, I tried to build a life, but the cycle of addiction, heartbreak, and loss kept pulling me back. Eventually, I hit rock bottom in Ashland, Kentucky, and tried to end my life. I went to treatment, stayed sober for a while, and even worked in recovery for five years, but I relapsed again and ended up living in my car. That’s when I heard about Stable Recovery. I joined the program, completed the School of Horsemanship, and finally found real purpose. Today, I’m proud to work at Stable Recovery, helping others find the same hope I was given."
