Stable Recovery

What We Do

At Stable Recovery, our mission is to provide a safe and stable living environment for men in early recovery. We are a peer-driven therapeutic community with a focus on equine-related employment opportunities.

While participating in our recovery housing program, residents will attend the School of Horsemanship at Taylor Made Farm. They will receive training and on the job experience in several different facets of the thoroughbred industry by the very best in the business at Taylor Made. We can also provide potential employment opportunities at participating horse farms in and around Lexington, Kentucky — if they possess a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.

During the recovery program, men will live, work, and recover together. They will learn to help each other grow mentally, physically, and spiritually. They will attend 12-step meetings, additional support groups, and attend horsemanship skill groups led by a variety of top professionals in the industry. We teach life skills such as accountability, structure, discipline, and responsibility — key components that are proven to support recovery from addiction.

We not only help men in the early stages of addiction to get the help they need by creating a support system, but we teach them employable skills and provide them with the opportunities they need for a second chance. We push the men to strive for more than just recovery. We want the men to be SUCCESSFUL in recovery.

How does it work?

Alongside attending 12-step meetings, support groups, performing their duties around the house, and honing newly found horseman skills, all men go through a number of phases designed to support their individual recovery journey.

We support the men every step of the way, placing emphasis on the individual and adopting a program of recovery that best fits each person’s needs.

Who We Are

We are a group of men who created a non-profit company to help men transition into sober living in a safe and stable living environment.

As a peer-driven therapeutic community, men will learn from each other, take on various roles and responsibilities, and will maintain focus on what matters most — achieving lasting sobriety.

Why Do We Do It?

We believe that all men deserve a second chance at a productive and meaningful life.

We provide the critical components needed to achieve success in recovery. Working with horses is uniquely therapeutic for individuals in the early stages of recovery from addiction. Paired with a mix of other unique responsibilities, the men on the farm operate a supportive community where they are all trying to achieve the same goal.

Facilities

We have 2 Sober living houses. One in Lexington and one on Taylor Made Farm. The one in Lexington is our phase 1 house where participants will stay while participating in program. After completion of the School of Horsemanship along with meeting all expectations of the program, participants graduate up to our phase 2 facility on the farm where they will live and work at Taylor Made or one of our partnering farms.

New Partners

Stable Recovery is growing! We are proud to say that 100% of our Graduates are currently employed in the horse industry! We have partnered with several other farms and jobs in the industry.
